Last day in England today. It was pretty much a totally free day starting at 6:30am. We had breakfast as usual and then went to downtown Oxford. We had free time all day until a show in the evening so we did a mix of shopping and museum type activities. We went to the Bates music collection where we saw some 3D printed musical instruments and some really beautiful old instruments (including a beautiful harpsicord that belonged to Handel that neala got to play!). I also got to try a harpsicord (not handles though) as well as some recorder/clarinet/flute trype things. The other museums we did were the treasury at one of the college libraries and the history of science museum. We saw lots of cool thing including Einstein’s original handwriting on a blackboard and an exhibit entitled ‘mountain creatures and strange fish’.
We had lunch at a place called leons where I had a really good chicken burger and lemonade. We also did quite a bit of shopping and we got some fudge and the guys running the fudge place were the best. Then we had dinner at a Jamie Oliver restaurant where I had soup, a chicken club (lots of chicken i know) and a chocolate brownie. It was also Neala’s birthday today so I got her a little cake from the cake shop in the covered market and we sang to her in the restaurant. We finished dinner pretty early so we walked down to a little park type area and then walked back to the theatre where we saw the play “la strata”. I didn’t really understand what was going on or what the message was but it was generally sad and a lot of the acting and effects were pretty good. Then we came back to the hotel and went to bed. Its going to be an extended day tomorrow and we will be traveling for most of it but then we’ll be home with lots of stories to tell.
