6:30 am start today. We basically got ourselves dressed and packed and then went down for breakfast which was a croissant, a roll, some pineapple, some sausage and some tea (and I took some of the granola bars for snacks later) then we got back on the bus and went to the church where we had our concert last night and picked up our gear before heading to Stratford upon Avon. When we got there we went on a bit of a bus tour in which we got to see the city a bit and we got to stop at both Shakespeare’s daughter’s house and Shakespeare’s birthplace.
I learned white a bit about life at the time and how you had to take your Windows with you when you move. After that we had lunch and some free time. For lunch I had a cheese and onion pasty (which was really good) and then we went into a sweet shop and the Peter rabbit store before getting back on the bus and carrying on to another castle. We were supposed to have time to look around the castle and do the special dungeon tour but there was a miscommunication so we just did the dungeons and let me tell you, it was whack. It was kind of like a cross between a haunted house and a museum because all the history was real but they presented it in a way that was super scary on purpose. We started out with a scary monk who told us about the plague and then we went deeper in the dungeons where the cool told us about how the doctor died of the plague and then killed Sam (who laughed the whole time). Then we continued on to the torture chambers where we learned about the various kinds of pain inflicted upon others and some crude jokes were made. Next was the court where mika, Adam and Natalie were put on trial, mika for being a witch, Adam for contaminating the water supply and Natalie for being from Bolivia. We then carried on and someone got there was chopped off. It was supposed to be there head but you know. The thing was, every time he was about to chop off his head, the lights would go out and he would be like, hold on wait a minute I forgot this or that and he did that there times. On the third time though the lights stayed off, our benches tilted violently forward and we got sprayed with warm water to be like blood. After that it was a hall of mirrors, but keep in mind that this whole thing has been very dark and there are scary people everywhere so it was quite difficult to navigate. The last room though was the scariest. It was where a woman told us about how her ‘mother’ was a witch and how when she was being tried for witchcraft she cursed the room and everyone in it. While she was talking, the very minimal lights would go out and she would be standing right in front of you when they came back on. And then at the end, she disapeared and the lights went out and doors settled and curtains blew violently and the in the benches we were sitting on, something stated moving inside of it so it felt like something was slithering on the bench you were sitting on. There was lots of screaming and fun to be had. After that experience, we went back to the hotel and hung around until dinner which was at a little restaurant down the street. Before dinner though, we saw this Sean litterally right outside one of the hotel doors and It was actually pecking on the glass, trying to get in.

We named him Jefferson and hung out with him for a bit (on opposite sides of the glass of course). When we went to dinner it was a cute little place and we had bread with oil and garlic for starters, lasagna for dinner and cheesecake for dessert. It was nice to have a dinner out with everyone and we had a nice evening. Then we came back to our hotels and got ready for bed. Tomorrow is a London day and with the attack that happened today it will be a little more scheduled and supervised than originally planned but will still be lots of fun.
I’m glad your scary stuff was all pretend! Stay safe and have fun 🙂 Miss you, Mum.
