Day 6 (March 20th)

6:45am start today. Had our usual breakfast and then packed up our bags. Sharon drove us to the bus one last time, we said our goodbyes and then started off for the day. Our fist stop was a school not far away where we did a performance which was fairly laid back and fun. Then we got on the bus and set out for Stonehenge. It was at least a 2 hour drive (probably longer but I was asleep so who knows) and it had started raining a bit by the time we got there. Our bus driver Dave (who is hilarious and my favorite) provided us with not so usefull but midly entertaining information on the way. When we did arrive at the big rocks it was just sprikling a bit and stopped shortly after we got there. We took a little shuttle to get to the henge (which as it turns out doesn’t even count as a henge because of its trench or something) and then we had an audioguide that we could use as we walked around.

It was really beautiful and interesting to look at although the guide was a lot of speculation and interpretation rather than fact (which I guess makes sense). The only thing they were fairly sure about is that Stonehenge was not built by the druids and that there’s a rock that they thought was used for sacrifices that turned out to just have iron in it so it turned red when it rained. After our walk about we went over to the museum exhibition and the gift shop and then went to find out hotel. On the way to our hotel I happened to capture the Windows screensaver in the countryside.

When we got to our hotel we had a bit of free time so me, sam, sam, tae Josh and Lilly went to a coffee shop and gas station for snacks and then came back to the hotel and hung around until dinner. We had dinner at about 7:00pm and it was some kind of soup (pumpkin or squash maybe? It was orange) and then mashed potatoes roast beef and roasted vegetables with Apple pie and ice cream for dessert. The pie was a bit of a conundrum because of the massive food we had just eaten, fortunately we are traveling with many a teenage boy with bottomless stomachs (first world problems to the max). After dinner we didn’t have a lot of time before we were supposed to be in our rooms, so we just hung about and then got ready for bed. It was a fairly relaxed fun kind of day today and I think it will be similar tomorrow when we head out for bath.
